Our Favourite Bedtime Stories (on Repeat!)

Bedtime in our house is never complete without a story — though if you ask my son, it’s usually the same story! His top pick for a while has been a A Squash and a Squeeze. We’ve read it so many times that he’s memorised whole lines.

Another regular favourite is Countdown to Bedtime: A Duggee Book, and of course The Cat in the Hat sneaks in too. It’s amazing how quickly little ones pick up the rhythm and rhyme - even before they can actually read the words.

One day, he’ll read A Squash and a Squeeze all by himself, and not just say the words, but understand the lovely message behind it: that sometimes what we already have is more than enough. For now, though, we're soaking up these nights of giggles, silly voices, and stories told on repeat.

Every family has those books that get read again (and again, and again). What about you? Which bedtime stories are on constant rotation in your house — and what little lessons or laughs do they bring?

I believe those “again, again!” moments are more than just cute — they’re how children build memory, language, and a lifelong love of reading. So keep turning the pages, even for the hundredth time — it’s all part of the magic.
